Brief Introduction of Nanjing Brain Hospital

Nanjing Brian Hospital (NBH), also known as The Brain Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University, Jiangsu Mental health center, was founded in 1947. As the first State Neuropsychiatric Hospital, NBH shoulders the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of Neuropsychiatric disease, as well as its teaching, scientific research, and judicial appraisal not only in Nanjing, but also in Jiangsu province and even the national wide. It follows government directives, provides psychological rescue for emergencies, and safeguards the social stability through carrying out key urban tasks and dealing with public health emergencies.

NBH has 1072 beds, more than 1,400 employees and serves more than 800,000 outpatients and 18,000 inpatients per year. It provides specialized medical service with its 16 clinical departments and 10 medical laboratories, including Psychiatric department, Neurology department, Neurosurgery department, Medical Psychology department, Geriatrics department, Geriatric Psychiatry department, Traditional Chinese Medicine department, Medical Rehabilitation department, Cardiovascular Medicine department, Children's Mental Health Research Center, Epilepsy Clinic, Cerebra Vascular Treatment Center and a provincial depression treatment center as well as an Autism treatment center. The hospital is equipped with two super-high field 3.0 T MRI, two DSA and two 64-slice-128-layer CT ,CTF-275 channel MEG and gamma knife, which provides strong guarantee for timely clinical diagnoses and treatments.

NBH is now the National postdoctoral science research station, Training base for specialist physicians of the National Health Commission, and National drug trail institution. The Psychiatric department is the first batch of national key clinical specialties, Key discipline of Jiangsu province; the Neurosurgery department is the Provincial key clinical specialty, and it has a medical innovation team of the “Jiangsu Provincial Project of Strengthen Public Health Through Science and Education”; the Medical Psychology department and the Neurology department are the provincial key clinical specialties; other departments are all municipal key clinical specialties. It runs 3 academic journals, which are issued national wide, including Journal of Clinical Neurology, Journal of Clinical Psychological Medicine, and Journal of Clinical Neurosurgery .

NBH adheres to the tenet of “Building the Hospital with Specialties”, devotes to the multi-disciplinary development and integration, constantly improves its comprehensive strength and core competitiveness , and it’s overall strength remains the forefront of the country. In Nov.2016, the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University issued the latest “Best hospitals in China”(specialized hospital), NBH was listed “ Top 100 best hospitals” for the fifth consecutive years. Its Psychological Medicine was listed top 6 for the 6th consecutive years in “ The Best Departments”.

NBH had been awarded “National Top 100 Hospitals ”by the Ministry of Health, and “National Advanced Medical Unit” by Ministry of Personnel. It has also been awarded “Advanced Unit” and “Model Unit” by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and Nanjing Municipal People’s Government in consecutive years.
